Indian Summer already?

The weather has turned cooler, and with it comes the crispness of color and smell that is part of the beauty we call fall.

Last day of Bayfield trip

We woke up, packed up and set off for the mainland views of the famous sea caves at Myers beach. We endured (well, some of us endured...) a rugged hike to the viewpoints, but the views were well worth it.

Then a stop at Hayward at the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame...

And then a stop to pick up Ben and home again...what a great trip!

More Bayfield?

After a full day, we went to town for an old-time fish boil! The Kristin and I hit the town again for a ghostwalk, but we were scared off...ask about the story sometime.

Instead, we walked down to the marina and watched the ferry return as the sun went down. What a great day!

Bayfield, day two, continued

Friday afternoon we boarded the famous Madeline ferry for a ride to the island. It really is a wonderful and charming place to see.

We stopped at "Tom's burned down cafe" for something to drink...you can sure believe that it burned down...

We checked out the island museum

Happy hikers took a walk around the town

Then hopped on mopeds to check out the rest of the island...

Frank scouted out a cool Indian cemetery that described the history of the island, and led us back to a little beach where we cooled our toes..

We rode the mopeds to the state park and hiked a great trail along the bluffs of the lake. At one point we climbed down to the water and played in the water...it was beautiful!

Bayfield, day two

Today Frank started the day with a dip in lake Superior...brr!!.then we all took a walk around town.

Bayfield!

Even though it is the busy season, Frank took a few days and treated us to a trip to Bayfield and the Apostle Islands! We dropped Ben off with Bobbie in Eau Claire (thanks Bobbie!) and continued on up to this beautiful town!

We were driven part of the way by this incredible driver...

Then found our cool place to stay

Then a walk around our condo...right on the waterfront and marina...beautiful!

Hannah and Laona

Over the past few days I made a whirlwind trip with Ben and Kristin and Kristin's best friend, Hannah. We started the trip by traveling to Sheboygan to see cousin Kati in the Random Lake production of Grease. Kati was great and the performance had us singing songs all night!

Then a stop at my Mom's house for some wonderful custard and even better conversation with Mom and her good friend Diane.

The same night (it was getting late) we headed up north to spend a few days with Bud at the lake house. There we introduced Hannah to the finer pleasures of fishing, Karaoke, and the Lumberjack special. Then, on the way home we were guided by this incredible moon!

Beautiful weather and wonderful people fill our lives...we feel so blessed...
